Volition was founded by serial manufacturing entrepreneurs Nick Pinkston and
Jeremy Herrman. They both grew up in the Pennsylvania Rust Belt in manufacturing
families and met in Pittsburgh through their shared interest in tinkering with
hardware. The vertical marketplace has been optimized to rapidly search & filter
across many millions of products with highly detailed product data. Our ability
to create a quality experience over such a large amount of data from so many
vendors is the secret sauce that makes Volition’s platform possible.

We worked with Volition from inception and the first lines of code to the
production launch of the marketplace. For the front-end user experience we used
Vue.js, and Node.js with Fastify and ElasticSearch for the backend. Industrial
products are unique in that they have a ton of attributes & related
documentation, ElasticSearch helped to build a performant search and filter
experience around these attributes.
